Midterm Project

BE1200

Design, build and program an autonomous vehicle (i.e., robot) that can navigate a track similar to the one shown in the figure below. You may only use components from your team’s Lego Midstorms Kit. The robot must navigate its way from the start point to the end point (green square) completely under program control. The robot must stop once it detects the green color. The track consists of a set of 1 inch wide black line segments (forming several “T” intersections) painted on a white background. Note that the length of the track between two intersections is not specified. The red squares in the figure below designate 1.5 inch wide by 1.5 inch high obstacles that are glued to the track. The distance between a red block and the closest “T” intersection is fixed at 4 inches (see figure below). Your instructor will make available a track (development track) for you to test your robot during the development process. The track that will be used to demonstarte your robot during the midterm contest will have a different overall track length compared to the development track; however, it will have the same right/left/left/right/right turn sequence.
