NOTE: Some examples involving symbolic computations employ the string ‘’ notation to define a symbolic function. Newer versions of Matlab has dropped this syntax in favor of explicitly defining symbolic quantities using the sym instruction (or defining variable(s) using the syms instruction)

For example: To integrate  x^2 use int(sym(‘x^2’)) or syms x followed by int(x^2) as opposed to using  int(‘x^2’)
